Navigating through the Intellectual Property Maze | PBS Online Webinar
Porto Business School and AfriConEU, under the umbrella of the AfriConEU Networking Academy, hosted a webinar on the 5th of June on “Navigating through the Intellectual Property maze”. During the webinar on Navigating Through the Intellectual Property Maze, attendees had the opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of intellectual property (IP) rights.
Catarina Silva, from PBS warmly welcomed the participants and gave the virtual floor to Gideon Brefo, Co-founder of HapaSpace to present AfriConEU and the opportunities available through this project.
Our speaker, Luís Ferreira, Partner at PATENTREE, shared with the audience insights about key IP concepts such as trademarks, copyrights, designs, and patents. They explored how these IP rights intersect with cutting-edge technologies like IoT, AI, and Big Data, gaining insights into the unique challenges and opportunities in this context. Luís Ferreira stated the basic patentability requirements and highlighted the importance of trademarks mentioning that “If you don’t use them, you will lose them”.
By the end of the session, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of various aspects of IP and developed practical skills in this domain.
