Participation at the 3rd APRM Youth Symposium

Marilena Maragkou, Co-founder & Program Coordinator of Youthmakers Hub and Dissemination Manager of AfriConEU was invited as a speaker at the 3rd APRM Youth Symposium organized by the Government of Uganda in collaboration with the APRM Secretariat, AUC Youth Division, International Organization for Migration, Youth for Tax Justice Network, on 4th – 9th July 2022 at the Speke Resort Muynyono in Kampala, Uganda. The theme of the Symposium was AU@20: Repositioning the Youth Agenda for a Transformative Continent. She presented the project WE AfriHug as an innovative education project during the AUC/UNICEF Session: Transforming Education in Africa Youth Consultation /Pitch-to-Youth. Marilena had also the opportunity to talk about the project with several stakeholders from the African Union and the EU Delegation in Uganda. 

 

The Symposium was opened by H.E the President of Uganda, Yoweri K. Museveni on 4th July 2022. In order to achieve the objectives of the Symposium, the Government of Uganda in collaboration with the APRM Secretariat, AUC Youth Division, International Organization for Migration, Youth for Tax Justice Network and Development Partners, including the European Union has slated key presentations and discussions on selected themes that are relevant in empowering 4 the youth. The symposium attracted 800 participants from Africa, Europe and the Global South representing public and private organizations and institutions.
