Meeting with our ICT-58 Family projects
On Thursday, 14th of June 2022, AfriconEU met digitally with ICT family projects: DIGILOGIC, HUBiquitous, AfriConEU, mAkE, ENRICH in Africa and BIC Africa.The representatives of the projects delivered their latest updates in the form of presentations. The aim of the meeting was to get an overall picture of the recent development of the project as well as it was an excellent networking opportunity for the participants.
HUBiquitous has recently processed their first technical webinar with Digital Innovation Hubs from Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana and Egypt. Their first IoT Training Course which is part of their Talent Program is currently receiving applications from the mentioned countries.
On behalf of AfriConEU, INOVA+ presented the progress of the project in the last months and elaborated on the Networking Academy and the thematics of its two flagship programmes, the Capacity Building and the Transcontinental Partnership Development. Furthermore, the upcoming events have also been presented.
The mAkE project, which kicked off in February 2022 has introduced their vision and project implementation to the participants. Their project is focusing on makerspaces as key drivers for local digital innovation in Africa and establishing mutual relationships and sustainable networks with European Digital Innovation Hubs. They are in the initial phase of their project and were excited to meet other members of the ICT family for the first time.
ENRICH in Africa, a transition project for the Africa Europe Innovation Partnership presented their mission and goals.They are supporting corporates to innovate, through engagement with start-ups from Europe and Africa.
BIC Africa is establishing 4 country projects in Angola, Ethiopia, Madagascar and Somalia where they are providing networking services to the incubation ecosystems in the region. Their goal is to foster job creation and sustainable livelihoods. In the Country Projects they have selected Business Incubators that focus on sustainable agribusinesses value chains, as the primary sector of employment in the region.
At the end of the meeting the participants has agreed to strengthen the cooperation among each other by organising further meetings together as well as discussing other opportunities for creating synergies between each other.
