Financing Digital Innovation Hubs and other entities | ITC Online Masterclass

The last AfriConEU Networking Academy Event of February was completed! On the 28th of February, ITC hosted an online masterclass about “Financing Digital Innovation Hubs and other entities”. The aim of this masterclass was to share experience, knowledge and tips and tricks of effective financial management as it’s crucial for the success of Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) that operate in a dynamic and rapidly evolving environment.

The session started with Sasa Straus, Senior Expert at ITC & DIH AGRIFOOD warmly welcoming the participants and introducing the agenda. Konstantinos Vadratsikas, Senior Researcher & Project Manager from Stimmuli for Social Change presented the AfriConEU project and gave the floor to the main speaker, Kudzai Maraire Mubaiwa, an economic development specialist with expertise in enterprise development, personal finance, and digital tools.

Kudzai Maraire Mubaiwa explained what Hub Sustainability is. She mentioned the major money drainers in most hubs including rent, internet and equipment while highlighting that numbers don’t lie and the reasons why they matter.

A key takeaway from this session is to focus on the numbers and to prioritize strategic investments in talent, infrastructure, and innovation. It is essential to have a clear understanding of the financial implications of each investment decision and ensure that they align with the overall goals and objectives of the hub.
