On the 12 of October 2022, ITC Cluster, in the framework of AfriConEU Networking Academy, hosted an online Masterclass about the essential tools we need for innovation finance.

The Masterclass’s aim was to inform the entrepreneurs about disruptive methods of receiving funding.

The event started off with Magda Bakali, Project Manager-Researcher from Stimmuli For Social Change, who made an introduction to the AfriConEU project to the participants with a SlideShare presentation. 

Valentina Ndou, Aggregate Professor at the University of Salento, was the main speaker of the webinar. At first, she presented the whole process of funding and mentioned innovative ways of financing. Through these ways, she underlined the importance of crowdfunding, since the creators hold 100% ownership over their idea. In addition, she specifically stated that crowdfunding is not just for fundraising, but also for promoting, launching, or sustaining a start-up.

Afterward, the event became more interactive when the professor visited the websites of fundraising platforms, like Kickstarter and IndieGoGo. Hence, the participants engaged in experiential learning.

The meaning of the webinar was that it’s all about the story, reward, and cooperation.
