Collaborate to innovate | ATBN Online Webinar

On the 28th of September, ATBN, in the framework of AfriConEU Networking Academy, hosted an online webinar about the collaboration strategies of the DIH leaders.

The webinar’s aim was to inform the DIH leaders about the benefits of cooperation and engage them in the innovation process.

The event started off with Eunice Baguma Bali, Digital & Gender Inclusion Consultant from ATBN, who made an introduction to ATBN, and with Ana Aleixo, Project Manager from INOVA+ introducing AfriConEU project to the participants. This presentation was followed by a slideshare and an opinion poll, in which participants expressed their expectations for the webinar.

Ben Griffin, Design Lead of Innovate UK, was the main speaker of the webinar. He presented the three design methods of business collaboration (people-centred,participatory, radical participatory). Then, he described the 4 key stages for accomplishing a successful project (discover, define, develop, deliver). He specifically stated that there are many tools and practices to incorporate, but DIH leaders should consider when and how to involve their community in the design process.

In the last part of the webinar, the participants were divided into separate breakout groups in order to exchange ideas and experiences for methods of innovative collaboration. This made the event more interactive and the participants concluded on the best practices.

The meaning of the webinar was that a good idea is not enough, but people can turn it into a success.
